Aroeira I

The coures was opened in 1973 and designed by Frank Pennink, one of the best known European golf architects, Aroeira I is spread over a 345-hectare estate, at Fonte de Telha, about 20 Kms south of Lisbon. It is already considered to be " the Wentworth" of Portugal, because it is located in a pinetree forest, and 600 metres from a sandy beach.

Established in 1880 by English residents of Lisbon, it was only in 1964 that the club took up its permanent home, the Casal da Carregueira, which is in Belas, some 15 kilometres from Lisbon.
