Situated near Rio Maior, about 60 Kms north of Lisbon, Golden Eagle Residence and Golf Resort as four par 5's and four par 3's. which will give you a pleasant challenge.
Located in a Forest region and is home to a variety of wildlife one been the Golden Eagle Bird. Designed by the American Golf course architect Rocky Roquemore, it covers over 90 hectares, and is surronded by a landscape in which stone-pines, eucalyptuses.
The fairway grass, Penn Eagle, is not often seen in Europe, greens have Penn cross and are quite sizeable but not too undulating. Bunkers are pleantiful and in many cases, very Large. Its typical of the modern North American golf course, which mean that target golf is the most important point. The course totals 6,200 metres of championship tees for a par 72 (36+36). On the first round, look out for the hole number 6, a par 4 at 363 metres, in which the golfer has to hit the second shot over some trees placed strategically in front of the fairway.
On the back nine, pay attention to hole number 12 (378 metres). Here, in order to get a par 4, the player has to make a second shot over the water onto a not very deep green.
Driving Instructions:
From Lisbon it's a 35 mins drive North take the A1 towards Porto Norte exit at Caldes da rainha, Rio Maior and on the last signs Aveiras take the N336 towards Rio Maior turn right Caldas da Rainha, Quebradas and immedately take a left turn. Follow the sign "Golf" and Golden Eagle.. |
