The course is a few minutes from the centre of Sintra between the town of Belas and Vale de Lobos area, about a 20-mins drive from the centre of Lisbon and the tourist resorts of Estoril, Sintra and Cascais. The complex is 465 hectares (1,150 acres) in total and it demands both skill and tacticall play and is acknowleged both locally and Internationally as one of Portugal's best constructed layouts. The area used to be popular with the nobility and the royal family as an ideal place to come and spend the summer.

This is a championship standard, par-72 golf course of 6,380 metres. It is one of the masterpieces of the renowned golf course designer William "Rocky" Roquemore. It's impeccably maintained greens, tees and fairways were seeded with Penneagle and Pennlinks grass and are set well into the valleys for protection against the wind.

The course meanders amongst the hillsides, with splendid views of the Sintra hills. It is divided into two well-defined parts a low-density residential area and an untouched natural environment. The signature holes, noted for both their beauty and their difficulty, are the 2nd, dubbed "Augusta" after the 13th at the famous course in Georgia, and the 18th, aptly named "The Grand Hole".

The elegant, modern Belas clubhouse is decorated in shades of terra cotta, blue and yellow. Through the bay window of the restaurant there is a magnificent view over rolling green hills with the Pena Palace on the horizon.
